Here There Be Monsters: A Discussion of Travel in the Horror Genre

Travel can be stressful, even when we think everything is planned. The horror genre plays on and amplifies these anxieties to create engaging tales. This session will look at some examples of horror movies and films that show how dangerous it can be to leave home, and participants are welcome to suggest others. We’ll work together to use these examples to explore what the genre tells us about how a culture perceives travel.
